CLUTCH HOSE +8 GIRLING

PLUS EIGHT BRAKES 1968-78

The early cars with the 15” x 5.5” wide wheels and the 14” ‘Millrace’ wheels.

These use the Girling M16 caliper. These are 2 piston with relatively small pad areas.

Unless you are seeking originality, there is not a lot that can be done with these calipers.

Consider having them overhauled with new seals and pistons.

If originality is secondary to stopping the car, then we would replace the standard calipers with the Billet 4 calipers.

These have approximately 25% larger pad area than standard.

With the internal shape of these wheels, there is not enough clearance for using a larger diameter rotor.

For normal road use, we would just replace the calipers with the more efficient Billet 4, and retain the stock rotors.

XXX-XXX Billet 4 calipers, brake pads and Aeroquip hoses

If you have the later factory 6.5” x 15” wheels, these have a totally different internal construction, then the larger diameter rotors will clear.

Product options:

We can offer a disc upgrade, using a 280 x 22mm heavy duty vented rotor. These will fit with the same Billet 4 calipers.

These rotors are virtually the same diameter as standard.

The vented rotors will dissipate the heat from heavy braking, where the standard rotor would overheat and lead to brake fade. (These rotors have been homologated for Group 4 FIA use.)

XXX-XXX Vented Discs, Billet 4 Calipers, brake pads, aeroquip hoses and all bolts

PLUS EIGHT BRAKES 1978-1992

These fit when the later wheels of 6.1/2” wide are installed.

The ideal kit, as wider tyres have more grip for braking.

Using the 300mm x 22mm ventilated rotors as in the later kits, with the aluminium billet 4 calipers,

XXX-XXX Complete kit with all the installation hardware, mounting brackets, including brake pads and aeroquip hoses.

Product options:

The rotors are normally supplied plain faced

XXX-XXX Crossdrilling or grooving is an additional per pair

XXX-XXX Aeroquip braided steel brake hoses for front hoses only or
XXX-XXX including the rear hose

Otherwise, if you do not need the extra braking, as you are a conscientious driver, and your existing calipers have seen enough service, there are still options.

We can just supply a pair of replacement aluminium billet 4 piston calipers to replace the existing iron 2 piston.

These will improve the braking with a much larger pad, and the greater clamping force of the 4 piston caliper.

XXX-XXX Pair calipers, with aeroquip hoses and brake pads and mounting adaptors

PLUS EIGHT BRAKES 1992 on

The most popular upgrade for these is the 300mm vented conversion. These discs are 22mm thick and for everyday road use will give all the braking performance needed.

A pair of 300mm ventilated discs, mounted to machined aluminium mounting bells, a set of custom made spacers for the calipers, a pair of new special caliper mounting brackets, and all the hardware to assemble
